Caring for Your King Comforters in Five Easy Steps

Posted on: August 25, 2011

Having king comforters in your bedroom can cause you both a great relief and a great stress. Why is that? Well, for the former argument, a king comforter is truly the best bedroom comforter, especially if you have a relatively large family.

Considering the latter one, the stress in having king comforters would be the maintenance. It would never be easy to clean it because of its size, much more to wash it! The water would be easily absorbed by its foams, thus further increasing its weight. Is there any other way to keep it free from mess to lengthen its years of service? Try these five steps:

  1. Use duvet covers to add a protective layer. In the recent years, duvet covers had successfully reinvented its quality and appearance with a lot more colors and textures that could greatly harmonize with your mood.  There are many duvet covers king. Example of these kinds is the silk duvet cover, perfect for those who admire the smooth and silken feel it provides. The designs are also of great quality, many are made even in the colors of the season.
  2. Do not neglect the ‘Save and Care Instructions' label usually pasted in the comforter. Although many of those tips are conventional and are rather obvious, many still tend to forget their value in safeguarding the quality of your king comforters. Simple guidelines like this should never be lost, so it will be better for you to post it somewhere safe and is conveniently available every time you might be needing its help. Beside, that sticker is not posted in your product to be disregarded.
  3. If there is an accidental spill, no matter how hard you have tried to prevent such; do not trust your traditional washing machine. As had been mentioned a while ago, king comforters are very absorbent and they can easily seep in the water molecules you might want to expose in it. It would be better for you to just call your nearest laundry shop. They are the experts in this field so it would be relatively wiser let them handle your situation. Yes, it is given that you would have to spend some dollars in here. But, comparing it to the expenses you might have to spend if your washing machine destroyed your comforter, it will be a lot cheaper to go for the laundry shop.
  4. Once in a while, fluff your bedroom comforter to introduce more air molecules inside. Doing this would significantly resize your thinning comforter into its former lofty status. This can especially help you if your comforter is starting to show the effects of years of usage. Doing this everyday is suggested if your comforters further start to lose its softness and texture.
  5. In storing your comforters, do not proceed in using closed plastic zipped containers. The temperature changes in the outside environment would most often than not produce moisture inside the surface of your comforter. This is a very dangerous thing to happen in your comforters. First, the smell would definitely be foul and unlikely. Second, bacteria and molds love to grow on moist areas. In this case, it would be much better for you to store it in ventilated areas.
