How to create a King Bed?
Many of us want to get new beds or feel like redesigning them. The price that you get for the used bed is just peanuts. Thus you crave for new piece but try to avoid replacement. In such a situation the creative mind generates great ideas. You can always renovate your twin beds into a king size bed. This can be done with ease as you get the required connector and kits to attach a well-built and comfortable bed.
Make sure you have the following things for creating a King Bed:
Pliers
Metal bed frame
Twin box springs (two)
Twin beds (two)
Ratcheting lashing strap (30 feet long, 2 inches wide)
Measuring tape
Scissors
Egg carton foam (1 or 2 inches thick)
King-size bedding
Procedure:
Bring the bed frames together in a manner that you can accommodate two twin boxes.
You shall need pliers for tightening the screws.
Keep the twin box springs on the bed frame and keep the mattresses on top.
Take the ratcheting lashing strap and wrap it around the beds perimeter. Slide the end of the strap into the ratcheting mechanism and pull through.
Ratchet the lever mechanism up and down. This shall tighten the lashing strap around the bed. The tightened strap shall keep the twin beds together and shall also prevent sliding or separation.
Take a measuring tape. Measure 1”x100” long piece of egg carton foam and cut out the piece with scissors. Set the foam length wise down the middle seam of the bed where the twin mattresses join. Tuck the foam under the lashing strap holding the mattresses together.
Take care: Use 1-inch thick memory foam instead of egg carton foam for a longer-lasting bed seam cover. Top your "new" king-size bed with a 1-inch mattress topper for an even sleeping surface. Make sure the ratcheting mechanism of the lashing strap is hidden behind the bed, away from view.
Do not use a ratcheting lashing strap with any hooks or loops, are they are bulkier and may interfere.
